Description
The Ataturk Olympic Stadium, located in Istanbul, is the largest multisport stadium in Turkey. Opened on July 31, 2002, it was built as the main arena for the Olympic Games, which Istanbul was bidding to host. Although another host city was chosen, the stadium has become a significant part of the country's sports infrastructure.
Named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Turkey's first president, the stadium is impressive in its architecture. Two steel roofs, weighing 2,800 and 1,300 tons, give it a unique appearance. The western roof is a crescent-shaped structure supported by two reinforced concrete pillars with a span of 196 meters. Under the roof is a six-story shopping mall with an area of 42,200 m².
The stadium can accommodate up to 77,563 spectators and is equipped with modern facilities, including two training pitches connected to the main part by an underground tunnel. The field dimensions are 105 x 68 meters.
Ataturk Olympic Stadium serves as a venue for major sporting events and concerts. Among the significant events are the UEFA Champions League finals and concerts of world stars such as U2 and Kanye West.
For those planning to attend events at this stadium, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance. A detailed schedule and poster are available on our website.
